On Saturday July 20, I will be hosting a 5k run/walk to help raise money and awareness for a cancerous disease called Multiple Myeloma.  My mother died of Multiple Myeloma and so that is why I have chosen to name this event in her honor--the Patricia Kathleen 5k Run.  Multiple Myeloma is a blood cancer that is currently incurable.  Research is clearly needed to better understand this disease.  By participating in this 5k run/walk, you can help fund just such research.  The event costs $20 for adults and $10 for those under 18.   All funds raised will go to the Multiple Myeloma Research Foundation (MMRF).  The event will be Saturday July 20th at Whiteaker Middle School.  Registration starts at 8:30am and the race will begin at 9am.  The event will be 5km (6 laps).  Volunteers are also needed for running stop watches and giving out numbers.

I will not enter and participate unless I am medically able and properly trained.  I assume all risks associated with this event, including but not limited to falls, contact with other participants, effects of weather conditions, conditions of the bark dust covered trail, all such risks being known and acknowledged by me.  Having read this waiver and knowing these facts I waive and release the Salem-Keizer School District and Whiteaker Middle School, race officials, volunteers, and all sponsors from all claims and liabilities of any kind arising out of my participation in this event.  I grant permission to all of the foregoing to use any photographs, video or any other record of this event for any legitimate purpose.
